DRAFT MINUTES of the KINCRAIG & VICINITY COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Meeting held 7.00 pm on Tuesday 10th May 2022  Hybrid Meeting.

3.Matters Arising:                                                

Local Walks Leaflet awaiting printing.

Dog Fouling signs planned ,2 signs proposed.

Bus shelter still awaiting repair.

20MPH Village Zone, results for Aviemore trial awaited . KVCC will request 20MPH zone for Kincraig & Insh.

Tom Ramage wrote a good article on Pop-up Friday .

 

4.Business

Planning & Roads :

4.1. 22/01365/FUL – Upgrade of canoe access point & Steps. Land 50M North of Insh Church ,Kincraig.

There are various local concerns regarding this application . KVCC plan to object on grounds of inadequate parking for the numbers of commercial vehicles this area attracts also Health & Safety issues with people having to cross the road at a corner.

Feasability Study for renovation of Telephone Exchange  – Results so far show local enthusiasm for Toilets and increased parking in Kincraig.

Possibility of modifying existing toilets at Village Hall to be accessed from outside was also discussed

 

4.2. Platinum Jubilee – J Forbes Leith is planning to light a beacon on Suie Hill at 9.45pm on Thursday 2ndJune in linewith planned national celebrations.

School children will be able to pick a stick to be added to the beacon.

There will also be BBQ facilities at the Suie Pub on that evening and it is hoped this will allow everyone to join in the celebrations.

 

4.3. Fundraising , News & Events –  I Ash has had discussions with Lorna Kerr who is the Communications Officer for Education.

They plan to create a Kincraig News & Events Page for general news about events in the area.

Lorna Kerr will act as the administrator and all submissions must be made to her. This page will, also be available on the KVCC Facebook Page.

 

5.Reports and Correspondence

5.1 Treasurers report – Non restricted Funds  £7,307.33

£1000 grant for Road & Traffic signs still unused .  KVCC will discuss with HC the possibility of using this money for a speed monitor in Insh.

5.2. CNPA Visitor Infrastructure Investment Programme – LD will apply for funding for Parking & signage

5.3. Community Resilience Briefing – Mask wearing no longer compulsory and recent Booster Programme now complete.

5.4. Does Scotland want Lynx ? – Study Report now available.

5.5. Kincraig Action Planning  – Karen Derrick VABS will attend next KVCC meeting to discuss Kincraig Action Plan.

5.6. Scottish Land Commission Virtual Public Meeting – Thursday 19 May at 7.00pm

 

 Any other Business

 

  1. Two Ukranian refugees are currently working in Kingussie & Kincraig and staying in Insh , accommodation provided by Willy & Mary Anderson.

Locals have kindly donated food & clothes. Balavil Estate will arrange to deliver firewood. Use of a vehicle would be appreciated if anyone could provide.

  1. Alvie Primary School report that presently only 1 further pupil would allow an extra teacher & class.
